Axie Infinity Overview
AxieInfinity is a blockchain-based game launched in 2018 by the Vietnamese studio Sky Mavis. It blends elements from games like Pokémon and Tamagotchi, allowing players to collect, breed, and battle digital creatures called Axies.
Each Axie is a unique Non-Fungible Token (NFT) on the Ethereum blockchain. The game uses a Play-to-Earn model, enabling players to earn rewards in cryptocurrencies like Axie Infinity Shards (AXS) and Small Love Potions (SLP) through battles and breeding.
AXS serves as a governance token, giving players a say in game decisions. AxieInfinity has attracted a large user base, especially in countries like the Philippines, where many players earn a living. However, the game faces challenges, including security issues and criticism regarding its economic model.
